Fiata World Congress 2024 - Opportunity for Vietnam to Expand Trade with Panama and Central America

The Fiata World Congress (FWC) is an annual event that attracts thousands of representatives from national logistics associations and large enterprises worldwide. With each edition, the FWC serves not only as a platform for knowledge exchange and experience sharing but also as an excellent opportunity to explore new avenues for collaboration.

This year, Panama has been chosen as the host city for FWC 2024, a precious opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to learn more about this market and establish trade connections. Panama is renowned for the Panama Canal - the key "Waterway" connecting the world.

In 1513, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, a Spanish explorer on a journey along the South American coast, recognized that the strip of land between the city of Gamboa and the port of Kobbe in Panama, nearly 80 km long, was the shortest route for ships to traverse from the Atlantic to the Pacific and vice versa if that strip of land was replaced by a canal. The Panama Canal was officially inaugurated, turning a historical dream into reality.

Today, the Panama Canal stands as the primary waterway for ship passage, the shortest route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, reducing transportation time to just 8 hours, 40 times faster than before. Moreover, this canal helps lower transportation costs, reduce product prices, ensure safety for people and goods, and generate significant revenue for Panama (20 billion USD annually).

At the FWC 2024, InterLOG had the opportunity to meet and expand cooperation with numerous businesses from countries like Canada, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, Taiwan, and Panama. Participating in this event also opens up opportunities for promoting Vietnam as in 2025, Vietnam will host the next annual Fiata World Congress in 2025.

Furthermore, the theme of the FIATA World Congress 2025 was proposed and won the Special Prize in the competition "Theme Creation for FIATA World Congress 2025" organized by VLI, by the young members of the International Business Development department of InterLOG. This theme has been selected as the main theme for the FIATA World Congress 2025, which will be held in Hanoi.

The FWC 2024 is a precious opportunity for Vietnam to introduce and attract logistics businesses from around the world to the Vietnamese market, contributing to the development of agent networks and business expansion. With the participation of around 16 companies, Vietnam aims to expand its business to the Panama and Central American markets. It is hoped that this event will open up new opportunities and bring success to both sides.
