In particular, for the logistics sector, greening is a mandatory factor and a crucial requirement for businesses. In Vietnam, transportation costs account for over 50% in the logistics industry, leading to significant emissions.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting and discussion with Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, the President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), who was visiting and working in Vietnam on July 9th. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that FIATA has always been an important bridge contributing to the cooperation between the Vietnam Logistics Service Business Association, the Vietnamese logistics service business community, and the associations and communities of the global logistics service business. The Prime Minister acknowledged FIATA's contributions to the development of Vietnam's logistics services.
The Prime Minister also suggested that FIATA focus on supporting the development of human resources in the logistics industry in Vietnam, expanding training programs, and enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese businesses. The President of FIATA highly appreciated the Strategic Development Plan for the logistics services in Vietnam during the period 2025-2035, with a vision towards 2045, especially in terms of digital transformation, green transition, and Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Therefore, to achieve the goals set by the government and adapt to the rapid changes in the world, new issues related to green logistics development and quick adaptation have been chosen as the central theme of the FIATA World Congress 2025, which will be hosted by the Vietnam Logistics Service Business Association (VLA) in October 2025 in Hanoi. What's more, the theme of the FIATA World Congress 2025 was proposed by young members of the International Business Development Department of InterLOG and won the Special Prize in the "FIATA World Congress 2025 Theme Composition" contest organized by VLA. It has been selected as the main theme for the FIATA World Congress 2025 to be held in Hanoi.
During the seminar on "Green Logistics Development, Fast Adaptation, and the Announcement of FIATA World Congress 2025" organized by the Vietnam Logistics Association and the Diễn đàn doanh nghiệp newspaper on July 9th, the requirements that demand businesses to quickly adapt to the rapid changes in the global economy were also shared. Digital transformation and green transition always go hand in hand and cannot be separated, so there is a need for guidance and timely solutions to support businesses in their transformation efforts. This seminar also marked the beginning of the journey towards the FIATA World Congress 2025.
The seminar was attended by Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Le Minh Dao, Deputy Director General of the Inland Waterways Department under the Ministry of Transport. On the side of the leadership of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), there were Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, President of FIATA, and Mr. Stéphane Graber, Director General of FIATA. The experts discussed and shared solutions and strategies for developing green logistics that can quickly adapt to the rapid and unpredictable changes in the global economy and society.
During the event, a cooperation agreement was also signed between the Vietnam Logistics Service Business Association (VLA) and various associations and organizations. Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh, Secretary-General of the Vietnam Logistics Service Business Association and Chairman cum CEO of InterLOG International Freight Forwarding Joint Stock Company, represented the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam Shippers' Council and the Vietnam Shipowners' Association.
This MOU aims to establish collaboration between the two associations in communication and promotion for the FIATA World Congress 2025. Additionally, the memorandum represents the commitment of both associations to coordinate activities related to policy consultation, organizing promotional activities, fostering collaborative connections, and addressing mutual concerns.
The FIATA World Congress 2025 will provide an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to meet and interact with over 1,200 companies from more than 80 countries operating in the fields of logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing, transportation, handling, procurement, innovation, and technology. The event will also gather more than 50 top experts from international organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations (UN), World Customs Organization (WCO), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), as well as leaders in the industry.
During the congress, businesses will have the opportunity to participate in policy discussions, witness the recognition of industry achievements, engage in cultural exchanges, establish new relationships, and explore collaboration opportunities with major corporations worldwide.
