The Ministry of Planning and Investment has reported on the situation of the damages caused by Tropical Storm Yagi, severely affecting people and property, causing much pain to the people of Vietnam.

Storm number 3 and subsequent remnants have had a very large impact, spanning 26 provinces and cities in the entire Northern region and Thanh Hoa (this entire region accounts for over 41% of the GDP and 40% of the population of the country), combined with the situation of flooding in the upper reaches of some major rivers that has caused prolonged heavy rain, flooding, flash floods, landslides, etc., occurring severely in many areas.

So far, hundreds of people have died, thousands have been injured, and many are missing. Storm number 3 has caused a lot of suffering to people, resulting in significant damage to the properties of individuals and infrastructure in the areas affected by the storm and floods. Preliminary estimates suggest that the property damage caused by storm number 3 is about 40,000 trillion dong.

Storm number 3, accompanied by devastating floods, has severely damaged the electricity system in the Northern region, according to the People's Army Newspaper Online

Approximately 257,000 houses, 1,300 schools, and many infrastructure facilities have collapsed or been damaged; 305 dyke incidents, mainly involving large dykes of level 3 and above; over 262,000 hectares of rice, flowers, fruit trees have been submerged, damaged, or destroyed; 2,250 aquaculture cages have been damaged or washed away; nearly 2.3 million livestock and poultry have died, and nearly 310,000 urban trees have fallen.

Moreover, the impact of storm number 3 has caused the growth rate in the last 6 months of the year to slow down for the entire country and many localities. The GDP growth in the third quarter of the country could decrease by 0.35%, and in the fourth quarter by 0.22% compared to the initial scenario.

The estimated GDP for the whole year of the country may decrease by 0.15% compared to the initial plan, reaching 6.8% - 7%, with the agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture sector decreasing by 0.33%, the industry and construction sector by 0.05%, and the service sector by 0.22%.

The GRDP growth rate in 2024 for many localities such as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, etc., is expected to decrease by more than 0.5%. Many roads are flooded and damaged, leading to the partial suspension of transportation activities (especially land and rail transport).

The Quang Ninh Museum has been severely affected after Tropical Storm Yagi, according to Vietnamnet

The infrastructure systems of various localities have been seriously damaged by the storm, with many essential infrastructure projects related to roads, bridges, culverts, electricity, water supply, drainage, telecommunications, information, schools, etc., being seriously damaged and in need of urgent repair.
