Shippers worry the rising shipping costs due to carbon tax

Shippers worry about the new carbon tax discussed at the meeting of the Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will be recorded at the very high shipping costs.

The reason why Carbon Tax will be imposed are 
+ Tariffs will be applied as an incentive to switch to lower-carbon fuel options
+ Try to minimize the impact, call on regulators to ensure that the ability of shipping lines to remove old capacity from the market
+ Generate revenue from the state budget to reinvest in environmental protection and encourage green growth.
